The most commonly used name for this breed is Teckel, although the official name is Dachshund. This dog is a cosy family dog. Teckel pups must be properly educated. They can be naughty sometimes as a pup. Teckels are alert, faithful and active. They can play well with children and other pets. Teckels are perfect actors and often look for eye contact to get whatever they want. This makes the Teckel an intelligent dog.
There are three types of pups: long hair, wire-hair and short hair. These can be of different sizes: standard (35 cm and a maximum of 9 kilos), dwarf (35 cm and around 6.5 kg) and bunny-size (30 cm and around 4.5 kg). The Teckel is a muscular dog with a long snout. The coat is short, smooth and shiny. Teckel puppies are available in the colours black, brown and grey.
